Materia Botánica explores plant waste to dye clothes. This project is the result of a collective work between agriculture, shepherding, craftsmanship and heritage. Grown, spun, knitted and hand dyed in Spain.

PLANT DYED KNITWEAR

Conceived in 2022 through a textile research and innovation project, Materia Botánica began exploring agricultural and food industry residues to develop plant-based dyes. What started as a slow research process gradually revealed the possibility of creating knitted wool jumpers, blankets and wool socks, using only natural elements from our surroundings and our hands.

The project moves between craft and material experimentation, seeking a balance between scientific investigation and traditional textile knowledge. We create woolclothing using natural dyes, designed to be lasting, meaningful, and rooted in our territory.

MERINO WOOL

Wool is at the heart of the project. We work directly with shepherds from nearby regions to create our own merino wool yarn. This allows us to maintain full traceability of our garments, while ensuring that the sheep in our flocks are raised with care in an ecosystem where free-range grazing coexists with wild flora and fauna.

Merino wool is a living material, a native fibre, deeply connected to the ancestral textile heritage of our land. Working mainly with 100% merino wool, we create naturally dyed knitwear, including wool knit sweaters and wool blankets, combining natural textiles with plant-based dyes and handcrafted limited collections entirely made in Spain.
